Quality control of finished products is a routine but necessary process, robots objectively cope it better than humans.

While a controller takes measurements of one part and decides if it’s OK, a robot carries out control of 10-20 similar parts.

Plus:

  • Decrease of risk of errors.

We get an ideal worker, who manages the tasks 2-3 times better than a human. Robot makes control and automatically reports on every part at the same time.

Task. To automate a geometry control workstation for forgings with pivot center.

Additional conditions. Synchronization of the control line with a magneto-luminiscent control unit and a hardness control unit.

Time of measurements cannot exceed 1 minute.

Data should be transferred from geometry control unit to the automated control system at the upper level of the site.

Solution:

Crankshaft forging is fed on conveyor to the zone of measuring device for geometry control and fixed in clamps.

It is scanned, the data are processed. The system defines if a part is OK and applies an identification number.

The equipment is placed in a protective box, that excludes the influence of production factors on the measuring process.

Part dimensions’ geometry control is carried out in automatic mode and includes over 70 check points. Human error factor is completely excluded when measurements are taken.

Thanks to this system robots move the parts with the weight of 50-110 Kg.

All the operations are monitored by one person, i.e., by an operator of the robotic cell.
